ruby tuesday

Our journey to finding the right Preschool continues. After Cambridge IS and A-Plus Chinese Language Center and Preschool, our next stop was at Kinder Care Learning Center at BF Homes Parañaque. This is just along Concha Cruz St.

This preschool follows the Eclectic Teaching method. As for your reference, here's a few information on Eclectic teaching as per
Eclectic approach
In the move away from teachers following one specific methodology, the eclectic approach is the label given to a teacher's use of techniques and activities from a range of language teaching approaches and methodologies. The teacher decides what methodology or approach to use depending on the aims of the lesson and the learners in the group. Almost all modern course books have a mixture of approaches and methodologies.
That was the first time I have heard about it and honestly I have no clue on how it goes. Good thing, they do offer trial classes and when I have asked Teacher Chu on how long will it be, she have even said that as long as my kid will like. Our little tot start attending the trial class this morning and we'll just probably let her attend their classes for utmost three consecutive days. Here are some of the information about the school:

Here are the things I have observed while attending the 3-hour TC yesterday morning:
  • They got a maximum of 10 students per class, a teacher and one teacher aid. I think it is enough for the teacher to guide each students.
  • Classroom is big enough to handle the 10 students. They have room for sit-in activities and have a space if they need to stand-up and line-up for some motor skills.
  • Facilities such as blackboard, racks for their books and educational stuffs are properly placed and maintained. They are not new as expected on a preschool running for 10 years but you can see that they are well-maintained.
  • There's a toilet inside but in a separate room or area that also serves as their wash area.
  • Cleanliness are observed but not in a full extent. Students are not required to be on their socks while inside the classroom. Classrooms are fully air-conditioned.
  • They have enough materials for each activities.
  • As per the mode of teaching, it looks Traditional to me but with more personal touch maybe because they only got a few students. They look strict when it comes to schedule and the 2-hour class is packed with different learning activities which is definitely a plus points.
  • They got enough space that serves as the waiting area.
  • Staffs are friendly and approachable.
  • They also got a big area that serves as their playground though it was not that clean maybe because it is outdoor.
So here's my ratings for Kinder Care Learning Center (from 1-5, 5 being the highest):

Keys Ratings Comments
Proximity to our residence 4 accessible except on coding day
Teaching method 5 eclectic
Facilities 4 well-maintained
Curriculum 5 fully packed with learning activities
Ratio of teacher vs student 5 just enough
Cleanliness and Hygiene 4 observed

We will definitely be attending her second day of trial class tomorrow to observe and know more about this preschool. Edited: We have attended her second day of trial class today, so far as per mode of teaching and curriculum, this is the best preschool. Looks like the students are being taught thoroughly on each aspects (Math, Writing, Reading etc). We still have a few more schools to observe but as of now this is the one on the top of my list. Not to mention, the rates are not that high :)

Here's their contact information as for your reference:

The feedback above is 100% mine and I am just sharing our experiences while we are on our search for a good preschool. My experience and point of views might be different from your so I am still suggesting you to try it out in case you are interested.

I am participating in the 2011 Mommytography 365 Project! For this year long project I will be posting an image a day, to get me out shooting, using my camera and learning new things with it daily. Anyone interested in photography can join, no need to be a Mommytographer. We have teens to adults, male and female, as well as people from all over the world. Come join the fun!
